All children need good nutrition and adequate physical activity to grow to their full cognitive and physical potential, achieve a healthy weight, and to be protected again chronic disease in later life.
The National Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Guidelines for Early Childhood Settings (Get Up & Grow guidelines) were developed by child health and early childhood professionals in collaboration with the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) was developed and published in 2009 by the Council of Australian Governments and is Australia’s first national Early Years Learning Framework for early childhood educators.
Children are particularly vulnerable to food borne illness because of their smaller body size and developing immune system.
Expressed Breastmilk (EBM) and infant formula are both high risk for food poisoning because they are not heated above the temperature danger zone, they are heated only to body temperature.
