The end of term 4 is a time to reflect on the year that was and prepare for the year ahead. The Food Smart Schools Team asked Jocelyn Ashcroft from Tuckshop and Canteen Management Consultants for her thoughts on what canteens could be doing to get ahead before school comes back in 2013.
End of Year Canteen Check List:
- Organise pest control for the canteen
- Menu 2013 – developed, costed, approved, distributed. Considered a Food Smart Schools Menu review for external assessment
- Place back to school orders
- Complete end of year cleaning
- Minimise stock levels
- Complete stocktake
- Gather books for auditor
- Update volunteer recruitment flyers
- Develop volunteer roster 2013
- Check bluecards register
- Update paperwork and templates
- Have a good clear out
- Distribute volunteer thank you cards or certificates of appreciation
- Develop an events plan 2013
- Write end of year P&C/P&F report
- Update equipment register log
- Secure building
- Celebrate your successes
