Our Food Foundations Program has been the leading food and nutrition program for early years settings in QLD for over 25 years. Our team of dietitians, nutritionists and health promotion officers are experts in providing nutrition and food safety information for staff, parents and children.
Subscribers to our Food Foundations program stay up to date with the latest nutrition and food safety information through our e-newsletters, online resources, telephone and email enquiry lines, professional development and workshops/presentations.
The Food Foundations program provides Early Childhood Education and Care settings access to monthly E-newsletters, quarterly webinars, recipes, resources, professional development and unlimited phone and email support around food and nutrition in the early years.
Our team of Dietitians provide professional development and training designed for cooks/chefs and educators working in early childhood settings (Long Day Care, Family Day Care, Kindergartens). We work with settings that provide meals for children as well as settings where families provide food. Most of our workshops can be delivered in person or virtually.
We offer self-paced food safety and nutrition training options online through our partner In Safe Hands. Training has been specifically designed for those working in early years settings, and includes food safety and nutrition.
Our menu reviews aim to increase children’s exposure to a variety of foods and provide strategies to meet NQS requirements around food provision. They are completed by Accredited Practising Dietitians experienced in the early years sector. We offer 2 levels of menu reviews.
Food Foundations subscribers have access to factsheets, tools and recipes. Recipes provide child size serves and can be easily scaled to the number of children at a centre. We also have lunchbox recipes for centres where families provide food.
We provide a variety of early years focused resources that are freely available to the community. This includes factsheets, posters, and videos on nutrition for babies and children up to 5 years of age.
